Does Recon Metal Ltd. accept appliances?
We accept all types of appliances including washing machines, refrigerators*, freezers*, ovens, dishwashers, etc.
*Note: Un-drained fridges and freezers that still contain refrigerants will be charged at $15/unit.

What are some examples of residential or household scrap metal?
Household scrap metal: Appliances, filing cabinets, bikes, lawnmowers, patio furniture, pots & pans, utensils and cutlery, small kitchen appliances, door handles/locks/keys, ornamental brass & copper, junk cars & automobile parts.
Renovation scrap metal: Roofing/ sheet metal, railings, hinges and fasteners, plumbing pipes and taps, knobs, hooks and handles, bolts, nails, screws, empty paint trays and cans, radiators switch covers, ducts, grates and air vents, etc.
Electrical scrap metal: Insulated copper and aluminum wire and cable: data cable, tech cable, BX cable, household wire, extension cords, Christmas lights, thermostats and jacks, light fixtures, outlets and interrupters, etc. Click here for more information regarding wire recycling.

What is the difference between ferrous and non-ferrous metal?
Ferrous metals - contain appreciable amounts of Iron and are magnetic.
Common examples: Most car frames, cuts from manufacturing companies, large scale piping and most housing and construction materials.
Non-ferrous metals – do not contain iron and are usually non-magnetic.
Common examples: Copper pipes, brass taps/fittings, aluminum window frames and car rims, lead wheel weights, lead-acid automobile batteries, stainless steel, zinc, electrical cable etc.

Drop-off customers:
Payments will be made in cash from our Smart ATM, or by cheque if requested.
Bin Service Customers:
Payments are mailed by cheque on a monthly basis.

What will I get paid for my scrap metal?
Our scrap is sold directly to mills and foundries and priced based on world market indexes to allow us to pay premium pricing that is consistent and transparent.
